Before the people came
by Jacqui O'Neill
Before the people came
first lives were in dense forests
a rich and fertile ground
sanctuary filled
Damp moist clean air
prevailed
Before the people came
first lives had; acres for homes
silent, quiet backdrops
in order to mature,
full larders
for their young
Before the people came
first lives had; a land of
non-milk and honey,
a bush that had not been tramped,
one great big reserve
fences not required
Before the people came
first lives were, nature's
settlers; content
to live off and within,
caretakers of
mother's own
Before the people came
first lives had already
found a sustainable,
abundant,
long white
cloud
